Istvan’s journey to Systema

Istvan’s passion for martial arts began in Hungary in 1992, where he studied Wing Tsun intensively for five years. After moving to London in 2006, he was introduced to an Indonesian/Malaysian Silat teacher, with whom he trained for nine years and became a senior student.

A meeting with Dr. Sam Benson, a senior Russian Systema instructor, changed Istvan’s life. Inspired by Systema’s ancient Russian principles and its focus on holistic health and well-being, Istvan travelled to Russia to complete demanding instructor development courses under the tutelage of world-class Systema instructors, including Valentin Talanov.

Today, Istvan is a certified Systema instructor and a passionate advocate for general health and well-being. He is also a certified Reiki master and Prasara yoga practitioner.

Istvan’s unique teaching methodology incorporates his extensive experience in various martial arts and disciplines. He is committed to helping his students develop the skills and confidence they need to defend themselves, improve their physical and mental health, and live their best lives.

Systema Classes: A Unique and Engaging Learning Experience

Our Systema classes are designed to be both fun and productive, and each class is uniquely tailored to the participants of the night. We encourage everyone to come with an open mind and challenging questions, so that we can learn from each other and create a supportive and collaborative environment.

We offer two classes per evening, from 7-8pm and 8-9pm. In the first class, you will focus on developing your solo skills, such as body awareness, movement control, and breathwork. In the second class, you will learn how to apply these skills in a partner setting, through drills and exercises that simulate real-world situations.

At the end of each class, we take a few minutes to sit in a circle and share our thoughts and experiences. This is a great opportunity to learn from each other and to build a sense of community.

We believe that Systema is for everyone, regardless of age, fitness level, or martial arts experience. Our classes are designed to help you improve your physical and mental health, develop self-confidence, and learn valuable life skills.

Movement & lifestyle 

Many members in our group have come from different backgrounds. These often include other martial arts, dancing and yoga. We understand that the human body intrinsically moves in certain ways. To follow sound biomechanical principles and develop the freedom to move through a full range of motion on a multi-dimensional scale is a challenging pursuit. We regularly share our experience and knowledge with others through seminars and workshops. Through the study of breathing methods, we aspire to move to a higher level understanding of  Systema.
